WeatherPhilippines partners with LBC on disaster risk mg’t

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - WeatherPhilippines Foundation (WPF) has partnered with courier and money remittance services company LBC Express Inc. to help complement the government’s efforts in reducing weather-related disaster risks in the country.

LBC, who recently signed as one of WPF’s Platinum donors, has committed an additional P25 million in 10 years for the sustainability of WPF’s operations.

LBC also offered its wide network and strategically located facilities for use in nationwide deployment of automated weather stations (AWS).

AWS installed in LBC sites will be visible on WPF’s website (www.weather.com.ph) to provide free, localized, and accurate weather forecasts to the Filipino public.

“Our partnership with LBC will help us achieve our goal to install about 1,000 AWS across the Philippines. Their generous support will allow WPF to sustain its operations and ensure that communities will continuously benefit from this project,” said WPF general manager Celso Caballero III.

The WPF is extending the call of nation building to interested corporate entities that would like to participate in the cause.

Other organizations that have pledged their support as Platinum donors include International Container and Terminal Services Inc., Nickel Asia Corp., SM Super Malls, and Vistaland and Lifescapes Inc.
