Phl affiliate of Italy’s Menarini launched

MANILA, Philippines - A. Menarini Philippines Inc. (formerly known as Invida Philippines Inc.), the local affiliate of the Menarini Group, Italy’s leading research-based biopharmaceutical company, was formally launched last Jan. 31. 

Held at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City, the event was attended by more than 150 guests, including local health officials and representatives of the international diplomatic corps and the medical and business communities.

The Menarini Group acquired Invida and its affiliated companies in November 2011, transforming Invida to Menarini Asia-Pacific to promote a unified brand in the global marketplace.

The acquisition expanded Menarini’s global presence in 13 of the fastest growing healthcare markets in the Asia-Pacific.

“While our company’s name has changed, our mission remains the same: to provide Filipino patients with innovative and affordable treatment options in partnership with the Philippine government, local physicians and healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders,” said Ninia Torres, general manager of A. Menarini Philippines.

“With the launch of A. Menarini Philippines Inc., we look forward to serving Filipino patients and physicians by providing them with trusted Menarini brands that carry our company’s mark of quality, efficacy and safety,” said George Eassey, chief operating officer of A. Menarini Asia-Pacific Holdings Pte. Ltd.

“We welcome the launch of A. Menarini Philippines Inc. and look forward to the company’s contribution in improving Filipinos’ access to quality and affordable medicine,” said Sen. Edgardo Angara, vice chairman of the Senate committee on health and demography.

“The expanding presence of Menarini in the region is good news to patients in the Asia-Pacific. With the launch of A. Menarini Philippines Inc., Filipino doctors and patients now have access to the company’s broad portfolio of trusted medicines,” said Alfonso Tagliaferri, chargé d’affaires of the Italian embassy.

Torres said A. Menarini Philippines “will stay committed to continue serving the local healthcare industry and improve the lives of Filipino patients by commercializing differentiated pharmaceutical and over-the-counter consumer healthcare brands, including new brands from Menarini.”

During the latter part of 2012, A. Menarini Philippines launched several products in the areas of cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, and imaging contrast media. 

“Our product portfolio also covers other therapeutic areas such as metabolism, pain, and central nervous system,” Torres said.
