Lysol promotes 'Oplan Flunas'

MANILA, Philippines - Lysol Philippines has partnered with the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society of the Philippines (PIDSP) to help educate the public on how to protect children from infectious diseases.

Lysol senior brand manager Marichu Gozun said Lysol has donated some P300,000 to the PIDSP for the joint implementation of the project dubbed “Oplan Flunas.”

Gozon said the project seeks to promote the “PSI Triad of Flu Prevention.” PSI stands for personal hygiene, surface and air disinfection, and immune boosting.

“This partnership will be able to widen our reach in educating the public on the prevention of infectious diseases,” said Gozun at a recent media briefing at the Crowne Plaza Galleria in Ortigas, Pasig City.

Gozun said to date, there are a total of 189 flu-prevention awareness doors all over the country, including in Laguna, Cebu and Metro Manila.

All 189 doors will be awarded an “Oplan Flunas” seal, which certifies their adherence to the Flu Prevention Triad.

Dr. Lulu Bravo, University of the Philippines’ National Institute of Health executive director, said the onslaught of natural calamities in the Philippines last year has put the health of millions of Filipinos more at risk, most especially young children whose immunity system is not yet fully developed.

According to reports, a total of 4,549 people were infected by the Influenza AH1N1 virus in the Philippines last year – 18.2 percent of them were children aged less than two; 11 percent, aged two to four; 39 percent, aged five to 11; and 33.9 percent, aged 12 to 17.
