Novartis joins World Pneumonia Day

MANILA, Philippines - Novartis Healthcare Philippines partnered with the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) and the Philippine Foundation for Vaccination (PFV) as the country joined the first-ever observance of World Pneumonia Day recently.

“Pneumonia is the number one killer of Filipino infants and children. Every year, it kills 9,000 Filipino children under five years of age,” said Dr. Lulu Bravo, executive director of the PFV and UP National Institute of Health (NIH).

“Vaccination is the most cost-effective measure against pneumonia,” Bravo added.

Novartis Healthcare Philippines supported the World Pneumonia Day celebration by providing free Hib vaccines.
