Unlock the 'leader' in your child

-

MANILA, Philippines - It is said that today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders. From infancy onwards, tomorrow’s leaders must be properly nourished one child at a time. And that child could be yours.

Not all parents dream that their child will grow to be a leader in terms of being a chief executive officer or a president. But they do look forward to their child being able to lead his life in a manner that would make him productive, creative and responsible. That makes him a leader in every sense of the word.

As an American authority on leadership issues Franklin Covey sees it, leadership qualities in a child manifest themselves in terms of: self-reliance or independence, that is, he does not depend on others to be happy; self-confidence, that is, he is open to expressing himself; and self-control, that is, he is able to do the more important things first before engaging in play.

In addition to these are: helpfulness or initiative; sensitivity to others; and cooperating with others.

What makes a child grow to be a leader? For a child to become a leader, Covey sees the need for parental support, modeling from parents and teachers, a supportive learning environment, effective learning tools, integration with activities in school, a regular follow-through, and a progress report system.

Nutrition also plays an important role in unlocking the leader in every child. Nutrients such as DHA, taurine, choline, iron and iodine nourish specific parts of the brain, particularly, the amygdala, the hippocampus, and the cerebrum, which are the so-called “emotional centers.”

These areas of the brain are responsible for such processes as memory, learning, emotional control, reasoning, and so forth (as gleaned from sources online).

These nutrients are present in Mylac XL Prep, a growing-up milk specifically for four- to six- year-old children, prepared with the XL formula — a combination of DHA and brain stimulants (taurine, choline, iron and iodine) to support the nutritional requirements of growing children.

Mylac XL Prep Growing Up Milk comes in two yummy flavors: milk and chocolate. It is available in leading supermarkets and drugstores.
