The hidden powers of ginseng

-

MANILA, Philippines - Through the years, the ginseng plant has been widely popular for its qualities that are said to be beneficial to one’s health and well-being.

For centuries, the Chinese have been dependent on its various medicinal properties. Health gurus during that time believed that ginseng could help invigorate one’s soul, improve eyesight, and drive away evil.

Said to have been discovered in the mountains of northern China over 5,000 years ago, ginseng is also believed to give long life with continuous use.

These days, modern medical practitioners have acknowledged the power of ginseng. According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) in the United States, ginseng helps improve the health of people recovering from illness; increases one’s sense of well-being and stamina, thus improving both mental and physical performance; treats erectile dysfunction, hepatitis C, and symptoms related to menopause; and is also known to lower blood glucose and controls blood pressure.

With the promise the ginseng root holds, the NCCAM supports studies to further unlock ginseng’s potential. Areas of recent NCCAM-funded research include Asian ginseng’s interactions with other herbs and drugs and the herb’s potential to treat chronic lung infection, impaired glucose tolerance, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Meanwhile, in his book “The Healing Power of Herbs,” Dr. Michael Murray said ginseng can help boost one’s brain power, as it has the ability to fight mental stress, resulting in increased memory function and concentration.

Murray’s claim is supported by research conducted at the Institute of Materia Medica at the Chinese Academy of Medical Science in Beijing, which showed that ginsenosides, the key ingredient in ginseng, increased brain activity and protein synthesis.

A clinical study reveals that administration of panax ginseng has been shown to result in cognitive improvements in healthy young volunteers. The study was participated in by 30 young, healthy adults, who were given 200 mg and 400 mg of ginseng during the course of the study.

Manufactured by NOW Foods, one of the leading manufacturers of vitamins and food supplements in the US, Energin 300 has the highest amount of ginseng among similar brands that help improve one’s overall performance if taken regularly. Trianon International distributes it locally.

The beneficial effect of Energin 300 was recently shown in a pre-launch trial among office personnel and employees, public transport drivers, call center agents, and students who reported improved virility and sexual potency after taking Energin 300, according to Trianon marketing manager Charles Cultura.

Majority of the subjects also reported overall improvement in physical and mental performance, and ability to fight stress, he said.

Energin 300 also contains royal jelly, which is known to rejuvenate and revitalize the body.

Energin 300 is available at all Mercury Drugstore branches nationwide. For more information, call the Trianon hotline 815-3239 or text 0917-8836164.
