-

The Child Neurology Society of the Philippines (CNSP) announced the holding of its 6th biennial convention with this year’s theme “Empowering Child Neurology Practitioners in the 21st Century.”

The convention will be held at the Bellevue Hotel at the bustling Filinvest Alabang Business Center in Muntinlupa City on Nov. 26-29.

The speakers are all leading experts in their individual fields, which include foreign and local doctors.

Plenary lectures on various aspects of childhood epilepsy will be given by I. Scheffer (Australia), H. Oguni (Japan), A. Berroya (Australia and Philippines), and B. Sanchez-Gan (Philippines).

Another important childhood neurologic condition is central nervous system infections and the invited speakers are N. Khan (Bangladesh), J. Cadorna (Philippines), S. Gatchalian (Philippines), L. V. Lee (Philippines) and A. M. Salonga (Philippines).

The highlight of the convention is the launching of the Lillian V. Lee Lecture Series.

Lee is known as the “mother” of Philippine child neurology, being the first to initiate a training program for child neurology in the country.

Together with Aida Salonga and Myrna Fojas, she invited other experts in the field of neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, neurodevelopment and child psychiatry to form the faculty of child neurology training at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center in Quezon City.

Prof. Y Fukuyama will deliver the first Lillian V Lee Lecture. His talk entitled “Learnings from the Discovery of TFukuyama Muscular Dystrophy” will be on Nov. 26.
