Search on for outstanding industry, energy researches
The Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research and Development (PCIERD) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has called on Filipino engineers, scientists and researchers to join its nationwide search for outstanding research work in the industry and energy sectors.
The council recently launched the 7th PCIERD Regional and National S&T Fora and Competitions in Industry and Energy Research and Development (R&D), which aims to recognize outstanding researches in industry and energy that have contributed to the growth of science and technology in the country.
The search is open to all Filipino engineers, scientists and researchers from universities and colleges, research and development institutions, and private industries involved in R&D work in the industry and energy sectors.
It is being conducted every two years to allow more entries, PCIERD said.
“Promoting technology development and eventual adoption or transfer of these technologies is also important and it is expected that the competitions will stir up further collaborations in these areas,” PCIERD said.
A total of P1.5 million worth of cash prizes, incentives and plaques are in stake for regional and national winners.
Authors and/or researchers of all winning entries in the national category will be given full support by the DOST in terms of technology promotion and commercialization.
Prizes for the regional category are P125,000 for the first prize; P100, 000, second prize; and P75, 000, third prize, plus a plaque for each of them.
For the national category, the first, second and third prize winners will receive P250,000, P200,000 and P150,000, respectively, and a trophy.
PCIERD will also give an incentive of P5,000 to each to all qualified entries.
