Correcting presbyopia

The digital age has invaded various industries, causing many kinds of technologies to be considered obsolete.
In the health care industry in particular, many have adopted the newest technology to provide their patients with the best care.
Advanced Vision Laser Center is leading in terms of technology as the only eye center in Manila that offers Pseudo Accommodative Cornea Treatment of PAC for people with presbyopia.
Presbyopia comes with old age. As a person reaches his or her late 30s, the lens of the eyes thickens and hardens, making it less flexible.
A manifestation of presbyopia is the need to reposition a reading material to find the right focus, usually further away. The most common and antiquated way of correcting presbyopia is to wear reading eyeglasses or multifocal lens.
Today, Advanced Vision Laser Center offers a better choice with PAC, the latest software used for Lasik, Lasek or Epi-Lasik.
Using the state-of-the-art Nidek CXIII EC5000 Excimer Laser System, the laser pattern creates a multi-focal-shaped cornea.
Circular areas, corrected to different powers, sculpt the cornea which will correct distance vision (even if you have long-sight, short-sight, astigmatism) and also presbyopia.
The final shape of the cornea is what doctors call a "prolate cornea," which has a flatter area in the center of the cornea and a gradual change of shape outwards (giving good near vision).
The overall vision after a laser refractive surgery will continue to be useful even as ones eyes age.
"Patients normally have good vision the next day after the treatment. Those undertaking presbyopia treatment will have stabilized vision after two to three weeks, and achieve best vision after one month. With proper screening of patients, the rate of complication is close to zero," said Dr. Alain Telandro of Advanced Vision Laser Center.
The center also offers other world-class laser techniques, including Phototherapeutic Keratectomy (PTK) for corneal scars, Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) for low and moderate degrees of myopia and astigmatism and, LASIK or Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis for all kinds of refraction.
"At Advanced Vision Laser Center, our goal is to provide you with utmost eye care and treatment through our world-class techniques that correct all errors of refraction including myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism and presbyopia," Telandro said.
Along with its comprehensive diagnostic system, its highly trained doctors and staff are ready to deliver personalized eye care.
Advanced Vision Laser Center is located at Suite 1004-1005, Medical Plaza Makati, Amorsolo corner Dela Rosa sts., Legaspi Village, Makati City. For inquiries, call 845-2656, 845-2714 or 844-3500.
