MANILA, Philippines — Consumer goods giant Unilever Philippines is looking to sustain business growth following initiatives to strengthen local manufacturing operations and improve supply chain processes.

“As the company enhances its local supply chain processes and strategies, it is poised to sustain business growth in the country, solidifying its importance as a key driver of Unilever’s global growth,” the company said.

It said Southeast Asia, the Philippines in particular, is a key growth area for the company, contributing to over half of its global turnover.

To meet Filipino consumers’ needs, Unilever is further developing its local manufacturing capabilities and supply chain strategies.

Over 90 percent of Unilever products sold in the country are manufactured in factories located in Pasig, Cavite, and a collaborative facility in Cabuyao, Laguna.

Since the inauguration of Unilever’s newest facility for beauty, wellbeing and personal care late last year, the company’s production capacity for these portfolios has increased by 60 percent.

The company also exports products from the Philippines to the US, Southeast Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Middle East.

To improve supply chain efficiencies, Unilever is utilizing cutting-edge technology and tools from the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Unilever’s factories are also powered by renewable grid electricity.

In addition, the company is using artificial intelligence to monitor and better respond to market, customer, and operational trends, as well as automate routine tasks to increase efficiency.

“We live in a world where consumers increasingly want faster, customized, and personalized products. With brands like Rexona, Sunsilk, Selecta, Breeze and Knorr under our belts, we must always have a reliable stock of high-quality products and a supply chain that delivers superior products and services at an excellent value,” said Unilever Philippines chairman and CEO Fredy Ong.

By enhancing operations and harnessing advanced technologies, he said the company is positioning itself as a leader in innovation.

“This ensures that consumers, both locally and globally, have seamless access to the high-quality products and services they rely on,” he said.
