SLEX rehab benefits Sta. Rosa, Canlubang areas

In less than three years time, communities in the southern portion of Greater Manila like those developing in the dynamic Sta. Rosa and Canlubang areas will seem so much closer to Makati and the rest of the business districts in the center of the metropolis.

The travel time from the vicinity of Sta. Rosa, where Ayala Westgrove Heights is located, to Makati is estimated to be about half an hour after the rehabilitation, widening and extension of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX). The promise of greater access to and from the metropolis and consequently, higher land values, are incentives enough for residents of the area as well as those from Ayala Greenfield Estates in Calamba to endure the inconveniences brought about by road repairs in the next 30 months.

Buddy Tan of Ayala Land’s urban and regional planning division says that once the SLEX widening project is completed, roadway traffic capacity along South Luzon Expressway between Alabang and Calamba will increase by 30-100%. "At present commuters in the far South often have to get up before dawn to avoid the traffic congestion before Alabang. Travel time will become more consistent and predictable throughout the day once the rehabilitation is completed," Tan explains.
