BMW's galore at Bimmerfest 2012

MANILA, Philippines - Global warming continues to wreak havoc in the weather patterns worldwide and more so evident here in the Philippines. It was still the middle of a very hot summer and yet the first showers of May came upon the 5th Saturday of the month. Rain or shine, the spirit of the closed-knit members of the BMW Car Club of the Philippines, the only officially recognized car club in the country by the International Council of BMW Clubs and BMW AG was never dampened as they launched the 9th annual edition of Bimmerfest.

Bimmerfest 2012 is the group’s all-BMW show-and-shine event organized and participated in by members of the club and close BMW friends. A total of 39 cars from the club’s best of the best put their passion and joy on display for everyone to appreciate. Packing the 9th Street Activity Center of Bonifacio High Street at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, the street was a-flood with BMWs. The cars on display spanned across the premiere brand’s varied model lines and storied model heritage. It was a clear testament to the ultimate passion of their respective owners.

The street also gave witness to the recently launched F10 M5, and together with a performance-oriented E82 135i, capped a display of BMW M Power, courtesy of Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC) via Autozentrum BMW. Displays from club partners and friends ensured Bimmer fanatics had their ultimate passions aroused. There was an E60 M5 at the BBS & Kelleners tent, an M6 at the H&R booth, a classic E31 840i at one of the club partners and a youthful, cycling-active E87 120d, dressed up by Yakima Bike Carrier Systems.

The day’s program officially started with the sights and sounds of the Brigada band and the high-trotting Stilt-walker entertainers. Everyone at BHS was treated to a grand welcome. Festivities were further made special with the presence of the BMWCCP select models; definitely grabbing as much attention as the BMWs on display. Another major part of the program is the formal launching of Brembo Performance Brake Systems in the Philippines, officially sourced thru Autoperformance Ph.

The event was capped with a show and shine competition awarding ceremony; the following being declared winners in their respective category:

Best Interior – Jowin Claudio – E34 525i

Best Exterior – Tonet Itchon – E30 M3

Best Heritage Model – Mark Robles – E36 325ci
