MANILA, Philippines - Philippine rural bankers got a chance to share its expanding experience in microfinance and mobile phone banking with private and state financial institutions in China at the International Microfinance Summit held in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia last month.
MABS regional manager Anthony Petalcorin, among others discussed the operations and success of mobile phone banking in the Philippines under the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines-Microenterprise Access to Banking Services (RBAP-MABS) initiative.
Centered on building a strong microfinance and micro-credit system in China, the summit features topics such as micro-credit regulation, supervision, funding, supporting structures and new technologies for microfinance.
It was sponsored by the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Finance Office of Inner Mongolia.
