MANILA, Philippines - Four mountaineering organizations affiliated with the Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines Inc. (MFPI) are jointly holding the 6th MFPI Luzon Summit on July 6-10, in Barangay Bagasbas in Daet, Camarines Norte.
The summit, a yearly activity of the MFPI, will have for its theme: “Pagtiripon Manugod Kan Kapalibutan” (Pagtitipon para sa Kalikasan).
The event will be managed by the Concerned Aduana Mountaineers of the Phils. (CAMP), Outdoor Addicts Mountaineering Club of the Phils. Inc. (OAMCPI), Tiwi Mountaineer and Outdoor Enthusiasts (TMOE) and Tribu Guinobateno Mountaineering Club (TGMC).
Aside from their adventure activities, these organizations are also involved in environmental conservation and protection and cultural community preservation.
Ega Muallil said the five-day affair will include basic mountaineering course, high altitude mountaineering, mountain climbing at Mt. Balagbag and Mt. Labo, skim/surf clinic, adventure race, MFPI Luzon president’s meeting, mountain bike challenge, bikini open and an evening concert.
The last day of the summit she said, will be the cleaning of the Bagasbas beach shoreline and a tree-planting at Mount Labo and Mount Balagbag. The MFPI is the umbrella organization of major mountaineering clubs in the country. It has 55 member-organizations representing over 30,000 mountaineers and outdoor enthusiasts. It is affiliated with the Union Internationale des Association D’ Alpinisme (UIAA) or the International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (IMCF).
