Wanna plant coffee? Let the experts tell you how
The Philippine Coffee Board at Kape Isla started a series of coffee farming seminars last June 14 due to the demand for information about growing coffee as a business. Nestle agri business experts Joel Lumagbas and Rudy Trillanes gave the first lecture on “Opportunities in the coffee trade” and a “Philippine Coffee Situationer” to enthusiasts who are mulling over the idea of getting into coffee farming.
The next two Saturdays June 21 and 28 will also be devoted to coffee farming and organic coffee farming, respectively, to be given by Dr. Alejandro Mojica, co-author of the book Barako: The Big Bean; and head of the country’s National Coffee Research Center in Cavite, and on June 28 the lecturer will be Mojica and Roland Ferstl , organic farming expert of the Figaro Foundation.
In between these coffee farming modules, Kape Isla also conducts coffee appreciation courses for those interested in the retail side of the business such as Coffee 101, Barista Techniques, Latte art and Coffee Desserts Plus.
Classes are held at Kape Isla at the Ground Floor of the Serendra (across Market Market). Call 9013485 or log on to www.coffeeboard.com.ph.
