Showcasing the latest in organic farm technology, the 2000 sq.m. organic integrated model farm features a teahouse, fishponds, chicken house, greenhouse, vegetable beds, herbal garden and farm store.
Highlights of the event included an organic buffet courtesy of Petras Naturally, serving all-organically grown food, such as brown rice and organic salad. All this to the relaxing melodies of a live cello, guitar and flute. Petty Pets booth sold turtles, rabbits and hamsters, while Pickn Pay displayed its variety of organic produce.
Another main feature of the event was the OCCP (Organic Certification Center of the Philippines) presentation, a mini-seminar conducted by Patrick Belasario, OCCPs executive director, on organic certification and an introduction to organic farming.
Present at the event were Alfred Xerez-Burgos III, VP and Leisure Farms group, head and Jacqueline Alleje, president of Ecological Earth Planners & Consultancy Inc.
"With the organic farms we aim to develop a sustainable and nature-friendly, healthy way of farming. Onsite research will also be conducted at the model farms, for the development of Organic agriculture in the country," says Alfred Xerez-Burgos III.
The organic model farm is created in partnership with Jacquelline Alleje of Earth Planners & Consultancy Inc. and Rizal Dairy Farms.
