DTI vows continued support following record-high exports

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has committed to support businesses in tapping trade opportunities to sustain the momentum after exports hit a record-high in September.
In a statement, Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said the DTI remains committed in providing support to help Filipino enterprises maximize global opportunities.
“Our exporters continue to prove that Philippine products can compete and succeed globally. This record performance reflects strong global demand, the competitiveness of our industries, and the hard work of Filipino businesses, workers, farmers and manufacturers. More importantly, it means greater opportunities for Filipinos across the country,” Roque said.
Philippine exports reached $9.87 billion in September, the highest monthly value since the Philippine Statistics Authority started tracking performance in 1991.
The September exports value also jumped by 35.6 percent from $7.28 billion in the same month last year.
Electronic products remained the country’s leading export, amounting to $6.92 billion and accounting for 70 percent of total merchandise exports in September.
For the January to September period, total merchandise exports rose by 17.2 percent to $73.95 billion from $63.08 billion in the same period last year. This also marks the highest January-to-September export value on record.
Roque said the DTI would continue opening doors for local enterprises by providing tailored assistance, helping them comply with international standards and linking them with foreign buyers.
“Trade promotion must lead to sales, repeat orders and long-term partnerships,” the DTI chief said.
