MPower energizes Calamba Medical Center

MANILA, Philippines — MPower, the retail electricity arm of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), has partnered with Calamba Medical Center (CMC), enabling the hospital to access competitive power rates.
Under the partnership, MPower will support CMC’s rising energy requirements by enrolling five service accounts under the retail aggregation program (RAP) and one account under the competitive retail electricity market.
CREM allows qualified end-users to choose their preferred power supplier, while RAP enables smaller consumers to pool their demand so they can also directly contract with an electricity provider.
“We see this partnership not just as a way to save on costs but as our contribution to the nation, maximizing resources and building a better future for the next generation,” CMC president and CEO Pilar Nenuca Almira said.
CMC operates under Metro Pacific Health, the country’s largest private hospital network and the health care arm of diversified conglomerate Metro Pacific Investments Corp.
As one of the leading health care institutions in southern Luzon, CMC serves as a major referral center for acute care cases.
“This is only the beginning, and with MPower’s support, we are confident we can do even more – both for our hospital and in contributing to the country’s responsible use of resources,” Almira said.
Both CMC and MPower expect the collaboration to expand further, with the power supply deal potentially extending to new hospital buildings and facilities in the future.
For Meralco senior vice president and MPower head Redel Domingo, powering health care goes beyond ensuring a reliable electricity supply.
“It means enabling institutions to operate with greater efficiency, resilience and readiness for what’s ahead. This partnership reflects how we continue to evolve our energy solutions alongside our customers’ growing needs,” he said.
MPower serves the contestable customers within Meralco’s franchise area, which comprises Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
