RLC reshaping modern retail with new format for Shopwise

MANILA, Philippines — Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC)’s Sierra Valley Destination Estate in Rizal is getting a major retail boost with the development of a “big box” facility for Shopwise.

Robinsons Logistix and Industrials Inc. (RLX), RLC’s logistics and industrial arm, has ventured into the development and construction of the new Shopwise format in partnership with Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc.

Shopwise Sierra Valley will be constructed on a total land area of over 7,000 square meters with a gross leasable area of 5,000 square meters.

It follows the big box concept, a format globally associated with warehouse-inspired retail models such as Walmart and Costco that are designed for high-volume, high-efficiency operations and value-forward merchandising.

The format, which is larger than a standard Philippine supermarket, supports bulk purchases making it relevant to expanding middle-income households and small business owners.

“Designed to serve both the growing local community and visitors to the estate on Ortigas Avenue Extension, this project reinforces RLX’s role as a builder of scalable, high-impact retail infrastructure” RLX senior vice president and business unit general manager Cora Ang Ley said.

She said Shopwise Sierra Valley reflects RLC’s push into new standalone formats that complement its established portfolio and broaden recurring income streams.

The project is eyed for completion by the first half of 2027, with the store targeted to open by third quarter of the same year.
