MANILA, Philippines — Mastercard has appointed Jason Crasto as country manager for the Philippines, tasking him to lead the payment card company’s strategy and operations as it continues to expand its role in the country’s growing digital payments ecosystem.

In his new role, Crasto will oversee Mastercard’s partnerships with both the public and private sectors to advance the Philippines’ digital payments transformation.

He will also focus on developing smart, secure and inclusive payment solutions for consumers and businesses.

“Jason’s leadership and industry expertise will be pivotal as Mastercard deepens its role as a trusted partner in the Philippines’ digital transformation journey,” Safdar Khan, division president for Southeast Asia at Mastercard, said in a statement.

“With his extensive payments experience and passion for driving inclusive, innovation-led growth, we are confident that Jason will build on our strong foundations and drive the next chapter of growth for Mastercard in the Philippines,” Khan added.

Crasto brings over two decades of experience in the payments industry, having managed consumer, commercial, and digital portfolios. Since joining Mastercard in 2020, he has led initiatives that strengthened client relationships and accelerated innovation across card payments, commercial solutions, and digital ecosystems.

“I am honored to oversee Mastercard’s business in the Philippines and contribute to the country’s digital growth,” Crasto said.

“I look forward to working with our talented and dedicated Mastercard team, as well as our customers and partners to deliver innovative payments solutions that empower Filipinos, and help build a more connected, secure and inclusive digital future for the Philippines,” Crasto added.

Crasto’s appointment comes as digital payments continue to gain traction in the country. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas reported that 57 percent of retail payments were made digitally in 2024, marking a key milestone in the government’s push for financial inclusion and digital adoption.
