Jacob Ang named president of SMC Asia Car Distributors

MANILA, Philippines — Jacob Ang, the youngest son of tycoon Ramon Ang, is set to steer SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp. (SMCACD) to its next phase of growth.

Jacob has been appointed as the new president of SMCACD, the exclusive distributor of BMW vehicles in the Philippines, replacing Spencer Yu, who has led the company as president for seven years.

“This is an exciting time for our industry and for BMW in the Philippines,” Jacob said.

“My priority is to build on what we do best – drive innovation in how we serve our customers, and strengthen BMW’s position as the leader in premium mobility in the country,” he said.

SMCACD said that Jacob steps into the role at a time when demand for premium vehicles in the Philippines is growing, alongside rising interest in electrified mobility.

According to the company, Jacob is well-prepared to lead the brand into its next chapter of growth, having been actively involved in its efforts to modernize operations and enhance the customer experience.

“Jacob’s leadership and fresh perspective will help us further strengthen BMW’s presence in the Philippines,” SMCACD chairman Ramon Ang said.

“We have built a strong foundation over the years, and with his energy and vision, I am confident he will take the brand further and create even more value for our customers,” he said.

SMCACD, a wholly owned company under conglomerate San Miguel Corp., was appointed by the BMW Group as an importer, distributor and service provider of BMW automobiles in the Philippines in 2017.

BMW has the widest dealership network in the premium vehicle segment nationwide in the country.
