BYD on track to open 77 dealerships this year

MANILA, Philippines —  BYD Cars Philippines is on track to hit its goal of having 77 operational dealerships in the country by yearend.

“It’s our target… Dec. 31, with 77 showrooms,” BYD Cars Philippines managing director Bob Palanca told reporters yesterday.

There are currently 40 operational BYD dealerships in the country, while the rest are under construction.

BYD is expanding its dealership network to reach more customers.

“That is our commitment as BYD, to make sure we’re reachable,” Palanca said.

Apart from bringing its products closer to consumers, he said BYD wants to build a long-term relationship with customers and make sure they have a dealership to go to for their concerns.

As BYD is offering new energy vehicles (NEV), Palanca also said all BYD 3S (sales, service and spare parts) dealerships are equipped with DC fast chargers.

Last year, BYD topped the country’s NEV segment as it sold 4,780 units and accounted for 82 percent of that market.

Earlier, Palanca said the demand for NEVs, like battery electric vehicles, is expected to continue to rise citing the sustainability push and benefits of using eco-friendly vehicles.

Aside from generating savings, NEV users benefit from the number coding exemption.

BYD cars are being distributed in the Philippines by the Ayala Group’s automotive arm ACMobility.
