Ayala to expand partnership with Bosch

Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Ayala Group and German company Bosch are eyeing opportunities to expand further their partnership in the Philippines.

AC Industrials, Ayala’s emergent industrial technologies group, signed with Bosch Philippines a memorandum of understanding to explore new business opportunities for the mutual benefit of both parties and development of the Philippines market.

AC Industrials and Bosch Philippines will explore potential business activities in various industries, including mobility solutions, manufacturing, energy and healthcare, among others.

The signing was witnessed by President Marcos during the Philippine-German business forum held in Berlin last week.

“We’re really excited to expand our synergies with Bosch,” AC Industrials co-CEO and ACMobility CEO Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala said.

Zobel said Bosch supports ACMobility’s goal of building the first and the largest electric vehicle (EV) platform in the Philippines.

“As we see the EV transformation happen in the country, we’re really excited to explore more ways to continue working with our partners as well as sharing expertise and innovative practices,” he said.

ACMobility, Ayala’s mobility arm, last year entered into a strategic partnership with Bosch to incorporate integrated vehicle technology in its aftersales operations.

Bosch Car Service will offer mechanical repairs to intricate electronics, engine systems, safety features, comfort upgrades, transmission expertise and a host of other services and diagnostics.

ACMobility and Bosch plan to open 20 new outlets in the country this year.

This will be expanded to up to 60 outlets over the next five years.

“Bosch collaborates with strong Filipino key partners such as Ayala. We try to contribute to our partners’ success,” regional president for Bosch in Southeast Asia Vijay Ratnaparkhe said.

Ayala, the country’s oldest conglomerate, is engaged in real estate and hotels development, financial services, telecommunications, water, industrial technologies, power and automotive, among others.

AC Industrials has operations across the globe and has diverse capabilities that cover manufacturing, enabling technologies and automotive distribution.

AC Industrials trimmed its losses excluding one-offs to P1.2 billion in 2023 from P1.7 billion the previous year due to better results from IMI’s core operations and AC Motor’s four-wheel business.
