MANILA, Philippines — Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) aims to sell around 100 units per month of its newly launched variants of its light commercial vehicle.

“Right now at our initial launch, we are looking at selling about a hundred units per month,” TMP assistant vice president for marketing services department Elvin Luciano told The STAR on the sidelines of the launch of the first two variants of its Toyota Lite Ace.

The vehicle maker introduced the Lite Ace pickup and the Lite Ace panel van on Friday.

“But soon enough we will be adding more variants to the lineup, variants that our customers can convert into various businesses like food carts and the shuttles. So when we release that, we expect the targets to be raised even higher,” Luciano added.

Luciano said the Toyota Lite Ace line aims to cater to businesses, especially the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“We are positioning the Lite Ace line as an efficient and reliable business partner especially for our MSME owners and entrepreneurs because we know that transportation, the efficient transportation of people and goods, are very critical in business operations especially if those are very critical in business operations,” Luciano said.

Earlier this week, TMP announced the launching the Toyota Lite Ace.

“The launch of the All-New Lite Ace will bring us even closer to fully realizing our goal of Mobility for All,” TMP first vice president for vehicle sales operations Sherwin Chualim said earlier said.

“With TMP’s entry into this new vehicle category, we aim to empower and enable more Filipino business owners, whether they’re just starting or looking to expand. Our goal is to help them progress and maximize income through a Toyota vehicle that’s simple to acquire, reliable to use, and easy to maintain,” Chualim added.

The Lite Ace pickup has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of P570,000, while the Lite Ace panel has an MSRP of P655,000.

Its Toyota Financial Services (TFS) offers packages, which give customers the option to avail a weekly payment scheme.

In addition, TMP said its 72 dealerships nationwide will aid owners to make the most of their businesses through excellent assistance and servicing.

“And with this expansive dealership network, Toyota Lite Ace will be available to more business owners both in city centers and the countryside with growing needs for transporting products and materials,” the company said.

In the first half of the year, TMP remained the market leader in the Philippines after it sold 80,090 units, according to figures from a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA).

This accounts for more than half or 51.71 percent of the 145,874 total vehicle units sold in the country from January to June this year.
