Vitarich gets approval to increase capacity
MANILA, Philippines — Vitarich Corp. has received government approval for the amendment of its environmental compliance certificate (ECC), which allows it to increase its poultry production capacity.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Vitarich said it has received a letter from the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) approving the company’s ECC amendment application for its plant in Barangay Santa Rosa, Marilao, Bulacan.
“The certification allows the company to increase its production capacity from 50,000 to 100,000 birds per day or 150,000 kilograms per day of dressed chicken,” Vitarich said.
Vitarich is engaged in the growing, production and distribution of chicken broilers, either as live or dressed.
Its products are distributed to wet markets and supermarkets.
In the first half of the year, Vitarich said its food segment accounted for 44 percent of its P4.4 billion revenues at P1.9 billion.
This is a 26 percent increase from the same period last year, mainly due to a combination of broad-based volume growth following the easing of lockdown restrictions and higher prices.
Last month, Vitarich said it was eyeing to acquire shares of a domestic poultry production firm.
The company’s board approved the terms of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the company and Luzon Agriventure Inc. (LAVI) for the acquisition of the latter’s shares in Barbatos Ventures Corp. (BVC).
BVC is a private domestic corporation engaged in poultry production, processing, raising and breeding of chickens and similar stocks, among others.
Vitarich said the transaction was in line with its plan to improve and ramp up production of dressed chicken and other products for its hotel, restaurant and institutional clientele.
