More European firms drawn to Phl investment climate
MANILA, Philippines - The country’s investment climate is attracting the attention of more European firms, the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) said.
“We have seen a lot of interest and there’s a high degree of interest,” BCCP chairman Chris Nelson said in a press briefing.
The perception of British companies on doing business in the country, in particular, has improved in recent years on the back of the strong showing of the Philippine economy.
Nelson said UK-based companies which initially indicated interest in investing in the country are in the fields of pharmaceutics, cider distribution, and software development.
BCCP said it hopes to continue promoting the interest of its member companies and in positioning the Philippine market as a potential investment destination in Southeast Asia.
BCCP to date is the biggest European chamber in the country with about 250 member organizations based locally and overseas.
For this year, BCCP said it is organizing two trade missions in September and November to help UK companies explore the available business opportunities in the Philippines.
“We have more socials and business events on our calendar and we will collaborate with key business players, government, local/international partners particularly UK trade and investment to ensure we deliver the best service that our members deserve,” Nelson said.
