MANILA, Philippines - The government kicked off a series of international roadshows in Singapore to drum up support from foreign companies to invest in 11 major infrastructure projects worth P280 billion under the government’s public private partnership (PPP) program.

PPP executive director Cosette Canilao showcased the PPP projects during the Philippines – Singapore Business Council Forum held in Singapore last Feb. 4.

PPP held roadshows in Australia, Europe, Singapore, Japan and North America last year to invite foreign companies to invest in PPP projects in the Philippines.

Canilao told participants of the forum that the 11 PPP projects include the development as well as operation and maintainance of six provincial airports worth P116.2 billion covering the Bacolod-Silay, Davao, Iloilo, Laguindingan, New Bohol (Panglao), and Puerto Princesa airports.

Canilao said there are about 61 PPP projects in the pipeline of which 29 projects would be implemented by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and 12 would be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson and DOTC Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya also attended the forum.

The roll out of PPP projects in the Philippines is in full swing after the award of nine PPP projects worth close to P135.5 billion.
