RLC opens Robinsons Place Tacloban

MANILA, Philippines - Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) is re-opening Robinsons Place Tacloban today as part of the company’s efforts to help residents regain normalcy in their daily lives.

“The mall reopening will serve as a symbol of hope to the people of Eastern Visayas that Tacloban City is now rising and is on its way to recovery,” said RLC president Frederick D. Go.

Go added: “With the mall now open, Taclobanons will once again be able to have a wonderful place where they can shop, dine and be entertained. “We are also very happy that most of our tenants have stayed and continue to do business with us.  Many of them are likewise opening their stores this Saturday,” says Go.

Residents of Tacloban will find Robinsons Place to be the same mall they know, with almost all of the tenants, consisting of nationwide chains and local entrepreneurs, remaining resilient and deciding to resume their businesses.

The mall has an entertainment center, specialty stores, banks, drugstores, service shops, restaurants, fast food chains and a foodcourt. It is anchored by Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Appliances, Handyman, Saizen, South Star Drug and Robinsons Bank.

Robinsons Place Tacloban also has five cinemas that can seat over a thousand. “With the cooperation of major movie producers and distributors, we will be selling ticket prices of Robinsons Movieworld at specially marked down prices for the next two to three months so that Taclobanons   will have the chance to see blockbusters that they missed, “ says  Arlene Magtibay, RLC’s SVP and  general manager for commercial centers division. Magtibay adds that these special screenings will take place in two cinemas with ticket prices ranging from P20 to 50.

“We are excited to be able to sincerely serve Taclobanons once again and help bring cheer to the city as it rises to the challenges brought about by the recent calamity,” said Magtibay.

Another major highlight of the re-opening ceremonies is RLC’s donation of pedicabs to the city government. “Beneficiaries are pedicab drivers from Marasbaras District who ply the Tacloban City routes.  Each pedicab will carry an inspirational message of “Tindog Tacloban” which literally means “Stand-up Tacloban,” shares Magtibay. Also lucky college students will be beneficiary of laptops from Robinsons Supermarket and Robinsons Retail Group.
