No signs of slowing down for IT-BPO sector -- DTSI Group

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Locally-bred business enabler Diversified Technology Solutions, International Inc. (DTSI Group) sees no signs of slowing down for the Philippine business process outsourcing (BPO) sector as global companies continue to express interest in considering the country as their outsourcing hub.

Miguel Antonio C. Garcia, president and CEO of the DTSI Group, said this optimism is based on his meetings with top officials of several companies and industry organizations at the 2014 International Outsourcing World Summit (OWS) held in Florida, USA from Feb. 17 to 19.  Organized annually by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), the Summit attracts about 1,000 attendees from over 40 countries.

“I’m happy to report that the outlook is very positive given the responses I received from those that I had discussions with.  More and more multinationals and other enterprises in the US have been seriously considering the Philippines as their outsourcing hub,” Garcia said.

DTSI Group regularly attends the Summit and intends to continue doing so to represent and promote the country.  DTSI was a Global Service Mall Sponsor at this year’s event.

“The Outsourcing World Summit is a great venue for customers, providers and advisors to get together and share outsourcing experiences, best practices and exchange ideas,” said IAOP CEO Debi Hamill. “This is a unique opportunity for companies to learn how outsourcing can help create change, enable growth and add value to their organizations and we’re pleased that DTSI Group played a part.”

“While the BPO industry continues to grow, DTSI believes that this is the time when the Philippines needs to be more active in promoting itself as the best BPO destination and make it the “de facto choice” for investors,” added Garcia noting that major rival India is developing new delivery locations and continuously improving its talent pool.  Proof of this growth was seen in 2013 when the Philippine IT-BPO industry expanded by 16 percent as it raked in $15.5 billion in revenues and provided direct employment to over 900,000 individuals.

This, he noted, makes him all the more confident that the targets set by the Information Technology and Business Processing Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) of generating $25 billion in revenues and 1.3 million jobs by 2016 are well within reach.

“We really need to be more aggressive than ever as the country’s competitors are trying to capture a bigger share of the market.  Our participation in global outsourcing events such as the IAOP is our way of showcasing and delivering our single value proposition to prospective investors as to how viable it is for them to put up their business in the Philippines,” said Garcia.

Garcia served as a founder and member of the board of trustees of the Information Technology and Business Processing Association of the Philippines (formerly known as IBPAP).   He founded DTSI in 1997 which begun operations as a systems integrator, providing IT network technologies, communications, and facilities services to both local companies of Fortune Global 500 companies and international investors.

Under Garcia’s leadership, DTSI Group has served leading BPOs and Fortune 500 companies; a) enabling more than 450,000 call center seats, or 60% of the industry’s seats in the country; b) building more than 400,000 square meters in office facilities; c) leasing over 180,000 square meters to various companies throughout the Philippines.

As the country’s leading enabler for IT-Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Diversified Technology Solutions International, Inc. (DTSI) Group is a premier full-service provider of world-class facilities, advanced communication services, and game-changing technology to global companies.  DTSI Group is an NTT Communications company.
