Maynilad to expand service connections

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - West zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. (Maynilad) aims to expand its customer base by 53,000 accounts this year as it lays down new pipelines south of Metro Manila.

In a statement, the company said it is investing around P500 million this year to connect additional accounts in the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario in the province of Cavite.

Additional connections would come from Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque and Pasay cities.

Around 70 kilometers of primary pipes and more than 80 kilometers of secondary pipes would be laid down in these areas to expand the company’s  distribution network.

“We are committed to serving all the residents and establishments in our concession area. We are doing everything we can to reach even the farthest point in the West Zone,” said Maynilad president and CEO Ricky Vargas.

In 2013, Maynilad added 70,962 new connections to its service network, bringing its total number of accounts to 1.12 million. The connections service an estimated population of eight million in its concession area.

As of last year, all connections have a water pressure of seven pounds per square inch (psi), the minimum pressure required for water to reach the second floor of a building. Not all service areas, however, have round-the-clock water supply.

Maynilad services the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres and Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the districts of the Holy Spirit and Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon — all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario – all in Cavite Province.
