MANILA, Philippines - Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) is set to open a new dealership in Laguna to expand its reach in the country and better serve its customers.

In a statement, MMPC said the new Mitsubishi showroom and service center would occupy a 6,021-square meter (sqm) lot in Maharlika Highway, Brgy. Milagrosa in Calamba.

“The construction started in July of this year and is expected to be completed in January 2014,” MMPC said.

Last month, MMPC also announced it is putting up a new dealership in Ilocos Norte.

The 9,600 sqm dealership is located in Brgy. 50 Buttong Airport Road, Laoag City.

It is expected to open in October and be fully operational by December.

MMPC continues to expand in the country to reach more Filipino customers.

To date, it has a total of 46 dealer showrooms in different parts of the country.

The company sells the following vehicle models: Mirage, Lancer EX, L300, L200, Adventure, ASX, Strada, Fuzion, Montero Sport and Pajero.

MMPC is the second best-selling automotive brand in the country, accounting for 23 percent of the market for the January to July period.

As of end-July, the firm has sold 24,929 units, up 23 percent from the 20,231 units sold in the same period last year.

MMPC expects to hit a record-high annual sales by the end of this year as it introduces a new passenger car model as well provide upgrades to existing vehicle models, amid the country’s positive economic performance.

The company achieved its highest record sales in 1996, selling a total of 36,533 units.

In 2012, it sold a total of 34,915 units.
