Tech firm promises discovery of big data insights
MANILA, Philippines -- Aiming to enable companies address all types of information, data analytics firm Teradata has introduced an IT solution for the discovery of big data insights.
Called Teradata Unified Data Architecture, the solution promises to enable business users to ask any question, against any data, with any analytic, at any time.
Lyndon Lacanienta, Country Manager of Teradata Philippines, said they are now bringing the technology to enterprises which was only used by big search engines before.
Lacanienta said Teradata's target companies in the Philippines will be from various industries such as airlines, telecommunications, transportation, banking and finance, among others.
Stephen Brobst, Chief Technology Officer of Teradata, explained big data technology should not only be about analyzing transactions but more about "interactions."
He said Teradata deals with big data not only in terms of volume but the "history" of what led to it.
"It doesn't only show of what you bought, but the path of how you bought," Brobst said, noting big data is not just about size but also of velocity, variety and complexity.
Lacanienta said a boon for big data analytics would sure follow as big diverse data is slowly becoming a buzzword citing the volume of detailed information generated by enterprises, multimedia, social media and the Internet, among many others, have significantly increased.
"As we slowly adapt to big diverse data, local businesses are now looking for more advanced analytics capability that would mean greater business advantage for them," Lacanienta said.
The Teradata center in the Philippines is a global consulting center which started in year 2010. It now has 500 employees and is looking to grow further its manpower resources. The center now also supports customers in South East Asia.
