Best practices in HR policies, contracts discussed

MANILA, Philippines - The Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) will be holding a special MCLE-accredited seminar titled “Best Practices in Crafting HR Policies & Contracts” at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City on June 28 and 29.

This two-day solutions-oriented program is a definitive guide aimed at helping business owners, HR practitioners, decision-makers, lawyers, even laymen craft a working HR policy, code of discipline and employment contract.

Other best practices to be discussed include those relating to independent labor contracting and outsourcing; union and CBA issues; and updates on the latest Supreme Court rulings (particularly significant decisions on dismissal cases and disciplinary actions). There will be also be lectures on contract provisions and special contract clauses for rank-and-file and high-level positions; formulating memos of agreement; special templates that will simplify the creation of HR contracts; how to enforce HR policies the right way; the proper method of terminating employment; and other secrets of labor lawyers that HR practitioners need to know, as well as tips and avoiding pitfalls in handling personnel.

Featured speakers and expert practitioners are Emerico de Guzman, senior partner and head of Labor and Employment of the top law firm Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz Law Offices (ACCRALAW) and principal author of the 2008 book, Philippine Chapter of the Guide to International Labor and Employment Law; Joselito G. Chan, CPA, senior managing partner of ChanRobles Law Firm and author of two books on Philippine labor, one of which has been coined as the “Encyclopedia Britannica” of Philippine labor laws”; Bienvenido E. Laguesma, former DOLE secretary and founder and senior partner of Laguesma Magsalin Consulta & Gartardo Law Offices; and Ramon de Leon, formerly managing director of the Ayala Corp. and seconded to the various Ayala-owned subsidiaries to help in the corporate transformation of Globe Telecoms, MWSS, IMI, and BPI Family Bank.
