PCCI explores partnership with Turkish businessmen
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) is exploring partnerships with Turkish businesses engaged in the construction and food industries, among others.
PCCI officials met last month with a group of 25 businessmen from Turkey representing businesses in construction, law, finance, food, medicine and healthcare, television, and education.
The Turkish contingent was led by Irfan Karabulut, president of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.
PCCI president Miguel Valera welcomed the delegation.
Turkey is one of the countries actively engaged by the PCCI through its bilateral business councils in the promotion of “lucrative business opportunities beyond the traditional markets of the Philippines.”
Potential ventures are eyed in food and agriculture-related industries, organic chemicals, electronics, motor vehicle parts and accessories, ship building, house construction, education, finance, and health services.
PCCI noted that Turkey is expected to become the 15th largest economy in the world by 2017. It is 6th largest economy among the 27 countries grouped under the European Union.
Philippine exports to Turkey as of November last year reached $116 million, while imports from Turkey reached $100 million.
