PAFMIL bares baking courses for 2012

MANILA, Philippines - The PAFMIL Baking Center has announced its baking courses for 2012.

On Jan. 30-Feb. 4 the center opens its basic bread baking course, a five-day program covering theoretical and laboratory activities designed to equip the students with knowledge and skills to produce quality breads. Bakery mathematics, ingredients and their functions and basic bakery management topics are part of the curriculum. Students are required to bake bread everyday.

Tuition is P5,000 per person and covers all materials, handouts and ingredients.

Basic cake decoration course follows on Feb. 14-17. These course is designed for beginners who would like to venture into cake production and needs some artistic skills to come up with delicious looking, well-decorated cakes. Tuition is P4,000 per person.

The siopao, hopia at iba pa course comes a week later. This course covers wheat based products that are either steamed, fried or grilled and do not require the use of ovens. These course is especially designed for low-income housewives and other entrepreneurs who do not have the capital to invest in expensive ovens, but are willing to venture on food business that can be profitable but not capital intensive. Tuition is P4,000 per person.

The baking course for allied industry is designed for people engaged in businesses closely related to baking such as yeast suppliers, oil traders, sugar, flour salesmen who need to have a basic knowledge of the baking science to enhance their selling skills. Tuition fee is P5,000 per person.

For the busy housewife and other baking enthusiasts, the PAFMIL Baking Center also offers Saturdays and Sundays only basic baking course. This will be on March 17-31. Course fee is P5,500 per person.
