DOLE bares winners of Productivity Olympics
MANILA, Philippines - The long wait is finally over. After a year-long search and evaluation, Labor Secretary and NWPC chairperson Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz announced yesterday the winners of the 2011 Productivity Olympics at the awarding ceremony held at Bayleaf Hotel in Intramuros, Manila.
The nine winners are: Pamora Farm Inc. (micro agribusiness category); Our Tribe Food Products (micro industry category); Stanfilco Makilala Labor Union (SMLU) Consumer’s Store (micro service category); J. Peyra Poultry Farm (small agribusiness category); Farmtec Foods Inc. (small industry category); St. Joseph’s Academy (small service category): Markenburg International Foods Corp. and Tesoro’s Printing Press (medium industry category): and Escalanta Public and Private School Teachers and Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative (EPSTEMPCO) (medium service category.
Five companies also receive special citations for their productivity initiatives in the areas of business excellence and people management. These are: Technovate Enterprise of Quezon City; Kabinulig Para ti Panagdur-as ti Abra Inc. of Abra, CAR; San Rafael Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Murcia, Negros Occidental; Almora General Hospital of Kalinga, CAR; and Elim Agricultural and Poultry Dressing Plant of Misamis Occidental.
Baldoz cited the important role played by MSMEs in the economy as they comprise 99.7 percent of the country’s agribusiness and employs two thirds of the workforce. She further encouraged the businesses to continue harnessing their productivity and competitiveness by ensuring that their productivity initiatives are sustained over time.
