Seminar set on best practices guide to employee dismissal
MANILA, Philippines - To educate and update business owners, administrators and HR and legal practitioners on the lawful dismissal of employees and prevent manpower problems, the Center for Global Best Practices (www.cgbp.org; Manila lines 842-7148/59 and 556-8968/69; Cebu lines (032) 512-3106/07) is launching a special one-day seminar entitled, “Best Practices Guide to Valid Dismissal” at The Peninsula Manila Makati on Feb. 24.
This one-day seminar is applicable to all types of businesses including non-profit organization. It is for everyone involved in employee management. The seminar will cover topics such as the rights of employer and employee, substantive and procedural due process before dismissal, just causes for dismissal such as serious misconduct, sexual harassment, insubordination or wilful disobedience, neglect of duties, abandonment of work, fraud, and wilful breach of trust and confidence, commission of a crime or offense, and other causes of dismissal under Article 282 identified as “analogous”.
This special event will feature expert HR practitioner Elvin Villanueva, author of the book A Guide to Valid Dismissal of Employees. He has also authored four other best-selling books namely, Guide on Employee Compensation and Benefits vol. 1 & 2; Guide on Wage Order & Minimum Wage; Gabay sa Mga Karapatan ng Mga OFWs.
It will also feature Joselito G. Chan, CPA, senior managing partner of Chan Robles & Associates and author of Law on Labor Standards & Social Legislation and Law on Labor Relations & Termination of Employment.
Another featured lecturer is Ramon M. de Leon, formerly managing director of Ayala Corp.
