MANILA, Philippines - In a city where kiyoning or yellow rice and Maranao desserts, tiyateg or doldol dominate the menus of most restaurants, the newly-opened casual chic Maika’s Cafe has carved a niche by offering a variety of modern food. “Our target market are the discriminating yuppies. We are modern cafe resto type,” owner Raifa R. Adiong, said.

Maika’s Cafe, located at Saduc,Marawi City, offers the type of food that evokes sharing – like a gathering of family or friends at home.

Raifa understands the dining and cultural traditions because she is based there.
