UK executive to explore trade, investment opportunities in RP
MANILA, Philippines - The chief executive of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) will visit Manila this week to attend the UKTI regional conference and to confer with the local business community on how the United Kingdom and the Philippines can collaborate on trade and investment initiatives, the British embassy in Manila announced.
Sir Andrew Cahn will also promote the UK as the business partner of choice and to offer support to potential inward investors.
As the biggest investor in the Philippines, the UK wants to invest for the long term having good trade relations with the Philippines. The UK is the top net FDI investor in the Philippines, investing $298.17 million in 2008, and a total of over $18 billion over the last 10 years.
UK Trade and Investment is part of the UK government’s national trade promotion and inward investment agency. Its Manila office provides support to British companies that wish to invest in the Philippines.
Cahn is the chief executive of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) since 2006. He has worked on economic and commercial issues for most of his career. He has twice worked in the FCO at the UK’s Permanent Representation to the European Union and was deputy head of the European Secretariat in the Cabinet Office in the mid-nineties. – Pia Lee-Brago
