MANILA, Philippines - Winsource Solutions Inc., a subsidiary of Winace Holdings Philippines, Inc., of businessman Teodorico T. Haresco Jr., has gained recognition as the first BPO company in the country to receive an ISO 9001:2008 certification from ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc.
The certification gives a gold stamp to the quality management system (QMS) implemented in Winsource. The awarding of the certification will be held this month in Singapore.
“This is something to be proud of. Winsource is the first BPO company in the country to be recognized with the 2008 version. Other BPOs are ISO accredited but with the 2001 version,” Dr. Patrick Azanza, president and CEO of Winsource Solutions, said in an interview.
He said that the certification “has opened a lot of opportunities for the company.” Because of this, Winsource can already apply for projects which require ISO certification. He also said that this is a breakthrough for Winsource because they can now accommodate clients looking for companies which are ISO-accredited.
Azanza initiated the ISO certification as soon as he took over the post in July 2009. The actual certification process, which has two stages, the preparatory evaluation and the auditing of records, started in November and took the company two months to complete the process.
He also formed an ISO committee, where he was the quality executive officer, who was responsible for the successful conduct of the stages of the ISO certification process. Some members of the committee were quality management representative William Sai, quality manager Christina Triumfo, and internal lead auditor Alvin Balleber. The committee was also in charge of the performance of corrective action of noted non-conformance by the ABS Quality Evaluations Asia-Pacific regional manager James Chan and ISO audit team led by Rey Napay.
Since the company has been recognized with the ISO 9001:2008, it has passed the four elements, management responsibility, resource management, product realization, and measurement, analysis and improvement; and it is expected to showcase greater efficiency and less waste, consistent control of major business process, regulation of successful working practices, and risk management, among others.
“The certification has actually been favored to us since last December. But since it will be coming from Houston where ABS is based, we will have to wait for the awarding to be held within January 2010,” Azanza added.
This ISO certification is part of Haresco’s plan for excellence in all the companies under Winace Holdings Philippines, Inc.
