-

MANILA, Philippines - The sixth Ayala Corp.-University of the Philippines School of Economics (AC-UPSE) Economic Forum will be held at the UPSE auditorium in UP Diliman at 3 p.m. on July 10.

The forum is a quarterly lecture series that aims to disseminate to the larger public the results of recent research at UPSE and foster dialogue among policymakers, the private sector, and the academe on current issues confronting the nation.

To deliver the sixth lecture in the forum is Dr. Arsenio M Balisacan, a UP Diliman professor in Economics and concurrently director of the UP Los Banos-based Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization-Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEAMEO-SEARCA).

SEARCA is one of the 15 “centers of excellence” of SEAMEO, an inter-government treaty organization founded in 1965 to foster cooperation among Southeast Asian nations in the fields of education, science, and culture.

Dr. Balisacan’s topic is “Pathways Out of Rural Poverty: Is Agrarian Reform Passe?”

Discussants are Prof. Marvic M.VP. Leonen, dean and professor of law of the UP College of Law; and Dr. Cielito F. Habito, director of the Ateneo de Manila University-Center for Economic Research and Development.
