Splash approves cash dividend

MANILA, Philippines - Local personal care and cosmetics manufacturing giant Splash Corp. approved a cash dividend of P0.21 per share for stockholders of record as of July 6, 2009.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Splash said the dividends shall be payable on or before July 30,

The dividend declaration is part of Splash’s continuing commitment to its loyal patrons and stockholders.

Splash reported a 4.3 percent rise in net profit in the first quarter this year to P46.55 million as its banner brands continued to perform well amid slow consumer spending.

The company reported that Maxipeel Exfoliant Solution remains the leader in the liquid beauty category with an 83 percent market share in March 2009 based on a survey conducted by AC Nielsen.

Maxipeel Exfoliant Soap also took the lead in the exfoliant soap category with 48.3 percent share during the period under review.

According to Splash, Maxipeel is also gaining headway in the exfoliant lotion category, accounting for 1.1 percent of the P3.4 billion total lotion industry after only six months in the market. 

Splash said it continues to dominate the skin whitening lotion category given the combined market share of Skin White, Exract and Biolink.

Last year, Splash reported a net income of P298 million, up 6.6 percent from 2007 on the back of a 5.1 percent rise in revenues to P3.16 billion. 

Splash is expanding its global footprint with plans to invest P50 million in a new subsidiary that will market and distribute its products in Indonesia beginning this year.

Splash products are currently spread in 1,032 outlets of leading groceries and supermarkets, with 23 third-party distributors serving 26,102 retail outlets. Overseas, its products are already distributed in 25 countries across the African, Asian, and North American continents. This international distribution contributes to 15 percent of total net sales.
