Singapore firm starts hiring for aircraft maintenance facility

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga — Singapore’s SIA Engineering Com. (SIAEC) said it will start accepting today applications for scores of managerial and other jobs at its $100-million maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) here.

Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) vice president for finance and administration Romeo Dyoco said SIAEC will be filling in positions at the management level, such as director for quality and safety management, manager for environmental health, safety and security, manager for quality control, manager for marketing, manager for human resource, administration and legal, and manager for planning and materials.

The job openings are also for other executive and technical positions, including technical instructors, finance executives, IT systems executives, production controller for planning and materials, unit chiefs, quality assurance inspector, inspectors and mechanics, logistics officer, storeman and clerical positions.

Dyoco said applications are also being accepted for the position of aircraft technicians and mechanics.

He said CIAC’s human resource department has been tapped to facilitate SIAEC’s initial processing of applicants that will fill up 60 to 80 aircraft mechanics for their operations next year.

“This is one of the programs of CIAC of providing employment opportunities to our people and this supports President Arroyo’s vision of making DMIA the leading aviation center in the Asia Pacific Region,” Dyoco said.

Last Nov. 6, the President , CIAC president Victor Jose Luciano and SIAEC president William Tan led the groundbreaking ceremonies for the $100-million maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility at a 10-hectare site inside the civil aviation complex that will service long-haul commercial aircrafts.

SIAEC is building its first hangar at DMIA complex to be completed by May 2009 for servicing commercial aircraft such as the Airbus A-320s. The project includes the construction of two other large hangars to accommodate wide-bodied aircrafts such as Boeing 747 and Boeing 777. The large handers are to be finished by 2010 and the second quarter of 2011.

CIAC human relations officer Joyce Santos said only aircraft technicians with experience and license from Air Transportion Office are being entertained by the SIAEC.

Santos said qualified applicants are to be screened by her department before being endorsed to the SIAEC. “Qualified applicants will be given salaries commensurate to their applications, attractive fringe benefits and world-class trainings,” she said.
