RP seafood exporters book $6.5M in sales

- Marianne V. Go -

Filipino seafood exporters reported sales amounting to $6.5 million in the recently concluded Boston Seafood Show which coincided with the trade mission of Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap to attract more investments in Philippine agriculture and fisheries.

The exporters that took part in the  Feb. 24-26 International Boston Seafood Show are Bluefin Seafood Export, Inc., JNMercado Seafood Supply, Anio Farms, Fisher Farm Inc., Jarla Trading, MS Seafood and F.A.B. Sea Resources Corp.

The export deals cover tuna, octopus, bangus and value-added seafood products like fish ham and sausages, adobo and teriyaki bangus.

The Boston fair is the largest seafood exhibition in the US, attracting close to 18,000 buyers across the globe.

“Filipino exporters who participated in the show were not only able to meet buyers for their seafood products, but were also able to learn new products and technology, develop or strengthen connections with their American counterparts, and find out about current issues affecting the business,” Yap said.
