PLDT makes permanent its unlimited call promo

-
Telecommunications giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) has decided to make its unlimited P10 call rate for long distance calls permanent beginning Sept. 12 as subscribers continue to clamor for attractive calling rates.

PLDT senior vice president and retail business group head Butch Jimenez said that since the promo will now become a regular plan, subscribers who want to enjoy the flat rate of P10 for PLDT to PLDT NDD calls will be charged a minimal administration and handling fee of P20 a month.

"After months of success with the NDD promo, we have decided to finally make this a permanent offering to our landline subscribers. With this permanent plan, subscribers can continue to make cheaper unlimited NDD calls without having to worry about incurring huge phone bills. Our promo has definitely revived consumer interest in landline services, and we plan to offer similar services in the future to give real value to our subscribers," Jimenez explained.

He added that PLDT’s unlimited NDD plan remains superior to any other plan offered by other fixed line providers since only PLDT has a base of about two million subscribers nationwide.

The NDD promo has recently been extended until Sept. 11 so that subscribers can continue to enjoy the P10 flat rate without having to pay the additional P20 per month yet. By Sept. 12, subscribers can opt to avail of this permanent plan with an additional P20 monthly handling and administration fee. The promo is applicable to NDD calls between PLDT landlines only.

With the lapse of an earlier promo that included Smart and Talk ’N Text subscribers, the regular rate of P13.75 per minute now applies instead of the promotional P15 per call. However, PLDT’s permanent NDD plan may soon include calls to other fixed line and mobile phone carriers subject to interconnection agreements under existing rules and regulations.

PLDT first offered this NDD promo in February this year. Because of its simplicity and affordability, it received a strong positive response from subscribers resulting to an increase in call traffic in the PLDT network.

The promo has also driven strong demand for the PLDT landline, and PLDT business offices nationwide have reported a strong uptake in landline applications.

PLDT earlier reported that its fixed line postpaid subscribers increased by 12,200 in the second quarter alone – a complete reversal of previous quarters‚ trends of net disconnections – fueled by the " P10 per call promotion" for national long distance calls.
