Islacom changes name to Innove
August 27, 2003 | 12:00am
The Securities and Exchange Commission has approved the change of name of Globe Telecoms wholly-owned subsidiary Isla Communications Co. Inc. to Innove Inc.
Innove will now handle Globes wireline and data operations after the transfer of Globes local exchange and wireline data services and their related assets.
Globe senior vice-president Rodolfo Salalima said the company will undertake all appropriate legal steps to complete the integration of the local exchange carrier and data services under the new unit.
The operational integration is in line with Globes ongoing efforts to continuously improve the quality of its network services. This has provided former Islacom wireless subscribers access to the superior coverage and service offerings of the Globe network and will result in infrastructure cost savings and reduced operating expenses.
Islacoms mobile subscribers under the Touch Mobile brand, however, will remain with the company.
With the transfer, Globe will become a pure wireless company after acquiring Islacom in 2001.
Over the years, Globe has established and built a broad platform of operational competencies, enabling the company to now handle some 40 millions calls, deliver over a billion text messages, and activate over 300,000 new subscribers every month.
With over 2,000 cellsites currently in place, Globes superior network, together with distinctive customer service quality and innovative wireless data products, will continue to sustain its strong brand identity and customer loyalty, making Globe a major player in the Philippine telecommunications sector.
