UK traders remain bullish on RP

A group of visiting British retailers remain bullish on the country’s business prospects despite the recent military mutiny.

British Ambassador to the Philippines Paul Dimond said "its business as usual not only in the retail sector. The July 27 incident has absolutely no impact."

Dimond said the presence of British retailers in the country disproves any apprehension about the stability of the Arroyo government.

The Philippine Retailers Association (PRA), the Philippine British Business Council (PBBC), Trade Partners UK and the British Embassy are holding a seminar on "Retail Trends and Training in UK" which also coincides with the 12th National Retailers Conference and Exhibition from Aug. 13 to 15 at the Edsa Shangri-La.

Dimond said that following President Arroyo’s visit to London last January, bilateral relations between the Philippines and the UK has improved, sending good signals to British businessmen.

During President Arroyo’s visit, Dimond said, several issues were taken up including investments and counter-terrorism.

British retailers are currently in the country to share their knowledge about the retail sector.
