Dramatic change for the City

- Rey Gamboa -
Last Tuesday, the Manila Peninsula was the venue of Honda Cars Philippines’ advanced presentation to the Philippine Media of their latest offering to the local passenger car market, the all-new City.

Local motoring journalists, most of whom only get a cyberspace view of the all-new City and were eager to see the new model real close in order to appreciate the stunning dramatic change that it has undergone, attended the affair in full force.

To grace the occasion, no less than the chief operating officer of the Asia & Oceania Region and managing director of Honda Motor Co., Ltd and president and CEO of Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Mr. Satoshi Toshida flew in from his home base in Thailand.

To complete the entourage of Japanese dignitaries from Honda who came in for the press launch was Mr.Takashi Saito, the large project leader of the New Honda City, meaning simply that he heads the overall design group for the City. The obviously shy engineer actually designed both the all-new City and its predecessor.

‘Masaganang Ani’ at the Century Park
It’s food festival time once again at the Century Park Hotel. This time the famous and most of the time filled-to-the-brim Café in the Park shall be showcasing mouth-watering, generation-to-generation handed dishes from the provinces of Laguna, Batangas and Quezon. As these provinces are known to yield a host of the country’s food produce, the festival has been aptly titled Masaganang Ani – a wish for a bountiful harvest.

During the well-attended ribbon cutting ceremony of the food fest, the Café in the Park had a colorful and festive barrio fiesta look complete with buntings, rice kipings and flowers. Dishes were prepared by the hotel kitchen’s dynamic duo – "the two Rudys" – executive chef Rudy Velasco and executive sous chef Rudy de la Passion. Entrees included Galantinang Manok, Hardeniera, Tapang Usa, Rellenong Bangus, Tortang Talong at Giniling, Sinigang na Tulingan, Adobong Bulalo, Pocherong Balayan, to mention some.

The "Masaganang Ani" Food Festival runs until May 18 for daily lunch and dinner buffets.
