Hog raisers set summit on diseases

Hog diseases common in the industry will be the subject of a pig disease summit to be held on Feb. 27 at the Metro Club (in front of Rockwell), Makati City.

The event is sponsored by the National Federation of Hog Farmers (NFHFI) headed by its national chairman Nemesio G. Co and President Albert R.T. Lim Jr.

In a gathering of farm owners, managers and technicians, three experts in veterinary medicine will interact with stakeholders and their problems. Dr. Jacky Chang, DVM, will discuss what circo virus is all about and how to prevent the disease or deal with it when the virus attacks. He will tackle hog cholera, too. Pfizer Inc. is represented by Dr. Willy Resoso who will handle the problems posed by pneumonia.

Co-sponsors of the project are Simon Enterprises, La Filipina Uygongco Inc. and Laboratorio Hippra.

Albert R.T. Lim Jr. will welcome the participants and NFHFI Technical Committee Chairman will deliver the opening remarks and explain of the mission of the summit.

During lunch, Laboratorio Hippra will make a presentation on hog diseases, treatment and care of the animals. After the open forum where health problems and management of the pig farming, Larry Yu will deliver the closing remarks.
