A number of big real estate companies, led by industry heavyweights Ayala Land, Robinsons Land, Jardine Land, Empire East and Megaworld have expressed interest in two prime properties in Metro Manila which were included in the initial 25 parcels of prime properties to be sold by the government through the National Development Co. (NDC).
NDC said the industry big wigs have expressed interest in acquiring the former Manila Gas property along Ganzon St. in Paco and the former Goodyear property in Las Pinas.
The former Manila Gas property is around 40,000 square meter while the Goodyear property covers a sprawling 18 hectares.
Representatives of George Yang (McDonalds franchise) and businesswoman Elena Lim also attended yesterdays property roadshow.
Although there was no spot sale, NDC officials said the list of industry heavyweights which attended the initial roadshow was "a positive sign."
Government sources said the Manila Gas and Goodyear properties would probably be sold through a bidding, while the other parcels of real estate may be sold through negotiated sale.
The NDC expects to raise more than P6 billion from the sale of at least 25 parcels of prime real estate properties all over the country.
Seven of the properties are located in Luzon, five in the Visayas and six in Mindanao.
Earlier, NDC general manager Ofelia Bulaong said the government will liquidate more than three million square meters of prime real estate located in various locations nationwide.
